china-one belt one road initiative, modern silk route

In 2013 Chinese president, Xi Jinping gave a speech in Kazakhstan where he mentions the ancient Silk Road, a network of trade routes that spread goods, ideas & culture across Europe, Middle East and China as far as back 200BC, In this speech he said “we should take an innovative approach & jointly build an economic belt along the Silk Road”.
In the Multi-Trillion dollar one belt one road project, there is a railway connects China and London, gas pipelines from the Caspian Sea to China and a high-speed train network in Southeast Asia, in addition there's the maritime silk road – a chain of seaport stretching from the south china sea to Africa, BRI also includes oil refineries, industrial parks, Power plants, mines, and fiber – optic network all designed to make it easier for the world to trade with China, so far over 60 countries have given theirs consent for this project because china is promoting this project as a win-win for all, lets understand this with the example of Pakistan, Pakistan wasn’t a popular place for foreign investment due to high corruption and lack of facilities like infrastructure that is until China came into the scene, in 2001 china offered to build a brand new port in the small fishing town Gwadar and it seems to benefit both the countries, through schemes like this China’s construction industry has boosted rapidly.

Typically to get investment in small countries west Nations usually set high ethical standards but China is offering billions of dollar mostly in loans- with minimal conditions. Eventually, it's no surprise that BRI has been a big hit with the less democratic countries. China has signed a deal with Authoritarian govt, Military regimes and some of the most corrupt countries in the world its also affiliated with Afghanistan, Ukraine, Yemen & Iraq but its unlike that these countries will be able to pay back the money. So what is the reason for China lending them money in spite being aware that they won't be getting anything in return because there’s more to the BRI than just economics? In Sri Lanka, China loaned about 1.5 billion US$ for the seaport and that very seaport is a key stop in maritime BRI. But since Sri Lanka was unable to pay back the loan so they gave  the control of the port to China, China controlling the strategic port in Pakistan, and all the above factors are going to be the part of string of pearls theory, and it's establishing  control over the Indian Ocean is making China achieve some very important strategic goals.

It looks like China wants to overpower US with this strategy it will isolate the US and will also cover all the corners of India which is a developing economy. if this happens china's probability of becoming the next superpower are extremely very high.
